The Pool

Ever since I got a jacuzzi years ago, the backyard has been THE hangout.
A combination of total privacy because of these huge ficus trees, a cool firepit in the middle of the yard and fun people.

This past summer 2006 I got it in my head that a pool & spa would be the ticket. I might even swim laps and lose some weight. So I called up my mortgage broker, refinanced the house and set to getting construction estimates. I ended up using the same contractor that my brother John used. At first I just wanted a play pool, 4 feet deep at each end and 6 feet in the middle. Somehow that morphed into a full sized pool, 7 1/2' at one end and 3' at the other.

The construction of the pool, spa, firepit and bbq bar was really interesting. And FAST, they started the day after memorial day weekend and I was putting water in it on Friday August 5th - two days earlier than the contract stated. If you click on the pool plan it will open a gallery of pics. You can see the other projects that Shoreline Pools & Spas have done by clicking here.

Also, there are two short videos that show the guys blowing shotcrete into the hole, and pumping the concrete onto the decks:
[they may take up to a minute to download]
